Think Like Jesus

what it means to be Christian

Renewed Every Day

There is a beautiful text that came to my mind today as I returned to the gym in hopes of redeeming some of my ill-spent youth. I first thought of these verses as a joke about my aching muscles and general fatigue resulting from months of neglect. But the more I read them the deeper their significance.

That is why we never give up. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

This is the present and future hope for those who follow Jesus.

  1. As best i can. I follow Him. I see things I have no control over and yet I follow Him. He says “trust me” – so I do.

  2. Good thought, but did you have to include a picture of yourself after the aforementioned workout? We don’t need to see that. Gives even more meaning to “For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

  3. you mis understand.

I see the world in a shambles and I see no way out.

    yet I trust him still.

I walk as a follower of the way. I see things fall apart and yet God says trust me. I see my body fall to a shambles, yet I hear God say trust me. I watch people fall into bondage with nothing to do but pray.

For the results I do not see. Yet I trust him still.

  4. You are right on. Looking to the eternal unseen is much more hopeful than looking at the here and now. Jesus’s holes in His hands paid for all our life stories ‘they are really HIStory! Thanks for the hug! Maybe next time we can chat more. Give Christina a hug for me. I got one from Erica too.
